Portable xenon arc light coagulator.

چکیده
The Log-2 portable xenon arc light coagulator (Fig. i) was developed (O'Malley, 1971) in an attempt to simplify the operative procedure and to make this form of therapy more widely available. The key to the small size of this instrument is a parabolic reflector built into the lamp (Fig. 2). The reflector redirects the radiation so efficiently that a I50 watt lamp performs the same function as the 2,000 watt lamp in Meyer-Schwickerath's light coagulator. However, the reflector produces important differences in the configuration of the light beam delivered to the patient's eye. This instrument also differs from the Zeiss coagulator in several optical, electronic, and mechanical features. We examine here the

متن کاملA comparative trial of xenon arc and argon laser photocoagulation in the treatment of proliferative diabetic retinopathy.
We present the results of a randomised study comparing xenon arc and argon laser photocoagulation in the treatment of proliferative diabetic retinopathy. Our results show that when used in the way described below there is no significant difference between the effect of the 2 treatments on optic disc neovascularisation and visual acuity. We also compare the results of peripheral retinal ablation...
متن کاملIn situ analysis of breast cancer progression in murine models using a macroscopic fluorescence imaging system.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE The goal of this study was to use an inexpensive macroscopic imaging system to monitor tumor progression in mouse models in real-time with minimal intervention. STUDY DESIGN/MATERIALS AND METHODS Illumination is provided via a xenon arc lamp and a fiber optic probe which delivers white light or quasi-monochromatic excitation via specific bandpass filters. Fluorescence...
متن کاملArtificial sunlight and ultraviolet light induced photo-epoxidation of propylene over V-Ti/MCM-41 photocatalyst
The light irradiation parameters, including the wavelength spectrum and intensity of light source, can significantly influence a photocatalytic reaction. This study examines the propylene photo-epoxidation over V-Ti/MCM-41 photocatalyst by using artificial sunlight (Xe lamp with/without an Air Mass 1.5 Global Filter at 1.6/18.5 mW·cm(-2)) and ultraviolet light (Mercury Arc lamp with different f...
متن کاملXenon arc photocoagulation for treatment of subluxation of lens.
In the treatment of congenital or acquired subluxation of the lens a conservative approach to reposition the pupil in front of the aphakic area by the use of the xenon arc photocoagulator is emphasised. The management of two cases of subluxation is discussed in detail and the results evaluated. The ease of repositioning the pupil by means of iris photocoagulation and the absence of surgical com...
